Shattered Dreams (A Poem)

Shattered Dreams (A Poem) Our children are the leaders of tomorrow so the song says, But tomorrow looks bleak and our future without hope seems truncated. Now our unfriendly tears seem neglected Without recourse on how we should be educated. The girl child is molested constantly And the boy child roams the streets helplessly. When shall all this nonsense stop? When shall we enjoy the dividends long promised? When shall we enjoy development? '...help our youths [including the children] the truth to know...'reads our anthem, But the sacrificial lamb is now our children. What an anathema? Schools are being built for who? Let the girl child be educated. Great nations develop their youth base. They don't exploit them. Fathers protect their children They don't leave them vulnerable. Our dear SENATORS not SIN-ATORS, Give the children a chance; give them pencils and pen, Give them books; give them a life of their own. Remember, this child can be yours like any other. For ...

Stay Alive for Africa (A Poem)

Stay Alive for Africa (A Poem) There is no point saying much, For much has been said with your life. There is no point singing eulogies For many eulogies have been sung. There is no point thinking about your struggles for freedom For we are enjoying much of it right now. There is no point thinking about your words of inspiration, For they've kept us thus far. There is no point talking much about your health. For we know our God will grant you good health. Get strong, get well and speak to us again For we've suffered in our heart again And we wish you well without pain That we may dance the Zulu dance again. Together for the world ℓ̊ pray Together we ask Mandela to stay alive. Stay Alive for Africa. Enwemuche Maxwell Onyemaechi 22-07-2013 23598DE2 @maxxzydapoet

A Right To Ask (A Poem)

A Right To Ask ~~~~~~~~~ In vain the promises fly like kites So high that they sparkle like the stars in Heaven. Your welfare is my concern they'll even trumpet, But where are the promises that once spoke so loud? With mouth so loud, they speak like demi gods Putting the people at the receiving end. At the high castle they crucify their pillar of support Oh ye building! You cannot stand without a pillar to support. Where is our strength? Where is our right to ask? Now ℓ̊ know wisdom is not measured by a man's height, But by steadily trying to know and ask. Thirsty for knowledge is not a wish, But a personal approach to life and issues. Our eyes in governance must look out for us That our days may not be like that of a horse... Opia-Enwemuche Maxwell O. (C)23-06-2013 @maxzydapoet 23598DE2

SING ALOUD! (A POEM)

Image
SING ALOUD! (A POEM) Arise and sing aloud for joy O ye people for a wonderful friend A friend who is like a brother unto me. The rooster may crow from dusk to dawn, But the hand of the LORD has been gracious to me. Many waters has run through the stream, But life itself has been a wonderful cream… Many have died in the past without glory, But the LORD has shown me HIS infinite mercy in HIS glory. I count my blessings every day in numbers That the LORD has increased me in numbers. Many struggle to live a great life? Indeed, there are many things to thank GOD for in Life, But one thing is sure; I’m alive and relevant in this life. Happy Birthday, my dear friend and brother. THANKSGIVING (A POEM)

THANKSGIVING (A POEM) When we thank Him for the dew, We see and experience His rain. When we thank Him for numerous good things so few... We live to see plenty in His reign. When we thank Him for things that are new, We attract His grace to Live a life without stain. When we thank Him every day anew, We see testimonies as our shadow without pain. When we thank Him for little celebrations, He makes us the envy of many nations. When we thank Him for our children, He grants us His grace to see our children's children. When we thank Him for a sound mind, He grants us, even beyond our expectations, peace of mind. When we thank Him for our better halves, He makes us to stand in the presence of the Haves... To thank Him is to praise Him And to praise Him is to bless Him, But to bless Him is to be close to Him. Being close to Him is to abide in Him. A LOVER’S KISS (A Poem)

A LOVER’S KISS Like an ice cold water, Your warm hands ran down my spine. Your love for me is like water; Without grudges I can stand shoulder tall like a pine. I think of your love everyday My nights are always lonely without you. Your love in my heart, I cherish every day. I’m truly glad that GOD gave me to you. My Sweetest, the very first time I saw you, My love for you was ignited for good And I know I’ll only be better with you… You’ve stolen my heart for good. Oh! Touch me; kiss me, my dearest lover. A lover’s kiss is all I ask from you; my friend, my lover. (For my dearest wife-'Achi on 14th February, 2013) Enwemuche Maxwell Onyemaechi maxwellenwemuche@gmail.com
